Windham, NH – The newest offering from Sea Stones pairs natural ocean-smoothed stones with glass to create a sophisticated Stone-Stemmed Wine Glass that satisfies a wine lover’s palette.
Embodying an intriguing sword-in-the-stone design, the artists drew inspiration for their glass from cairns, the carefully balanced stacks of pebbles and stones long used throughout history to signify an important site. Cairns often mark the way along hiking trails in the forests of New Hampshire, where the artists reside.
Made entirely from recycled glass and stone, the result is a wine glass contemporary in design that feels nice to hold.
“People immediately reach out and pick up our wine glasses,” says artist Anne Johnson. “They love the feel and fit of the natural stone in their hand.”
Since no two are alike, the design also makes it easy to recognize a particular wine glass. “Guests tend to choose the stone that speaks to them, and want to hold onto it for the evening,” says Johnson.
Inspired by Mother Nature, Sea Stones is committed to preserving their environment for future generations.
“We collect with permission from private rivers and beaches in New England, and each stone we harvest is replaced with a rock purchased from a quarry. The ‘replanting’ of stones ensures the beach remains as it should for future gatherers,” says creator Arra David.
Stone Stemmed Wine Glasses are sold at galleries and fine handcraft stores nationwide. Paired with the Stone Wine Bottle Stoppers and Napkin Rings, a set of Stone Stemmed Wine Glasses makes the perfect gift for both men and women and is an elegant accent to any table setting.
